Janis Foord Kirk has been writing about career and work search issues for Canadian newspapers for over 20 years. In many ways, her columns have chronicled the shifting career and work landscape during the final years of the 20th Century and the early years of the 21st. A new world of work is emerging from the economic upheaval of the past few decades. So changed is it, that people in every corner of today's workplace find themselves confronting an altered agenda. In complex and constantly changing times, career self-management takes on new meaning. Strategic thinking is essential. People need to be better informed and have a broader worldview. They need to understand themselves and their workplaces more fully than in the past.
Janis Foord Kirk has written two books: SURVIVABILITY: Career Strategies for the New World of Work, a book that examines the changes that have reshaped the workplace over the past few decades and the skills, attitudes and learning so necessary to personal and career survival. SURVIVING THE UPHEAVAL IN YOUR WORKPLACE, a how-to manual for people looking for work in volatile times.
