Train on-line to become a Survivability Workshop Leader and/or Survivability Coach

Survivability is personal resilience, the capacity to survive and achieve, no matter what life throws at you. It is a mindset based on self-knowledge and self-reliance.

The training promotes self-awareness of ten major "skills" all of which can be learned and cultivated: technological literacy, positive attitude, self-marketing, communication, active learning, information literacy, resourcefulness, problem solving, initiative and self-management.

Interactive and flexible, the on-line training program is offered over two weeks, featuring Janis Foord Kirk's Survivability manual & video (or DVD) with lesson plans and instruction from e-learning experts Dr. Roberta Neault and Deirdre Pickerell of Life Strategies Ltd. It leads to qualification as a Survivability Workshop Leader and/or Survivability Coach.

Survivability® Training On-line – Expectations, Timing, Pace

• The training program is designed to maximize flexibility and accommodate different time zones and work/life schedules.
• More structured than many self-paced learning programs, it has a clear start and end date (a two week period) during which participants work through the content together.
• At the start of the program and throughout, facilitators post topical information and links to web resources and open a series of course-specific facilitated discussion forums (similar to “message boards”) based on the Survivability text, manual and video or DVD.
• Participants are required to respond to the forums in a timely fashion and share information from their own research and life/work experience. This demands, on average, about 1 hour each day over the two week period (including weekends). Regular posting to discussion forums is essential to successful completion of this course. Active participation accounts for 25% of the final mark.
• After completing the on-line portion of the training, Workshop Leaders are required to complete a qualifying workshop in the community and forward evaluations for certification. Coaches are required to complete three coaching sessions and forward evaluations and a précis of the effectiveness of the coaching process for certification.
